Machados Island
Mr. Machado and his wife have been working smart and hard remodeling their home, knocking down walls, adding new entries, all clever and clean. His kitchen island, though, was not leveling up. So he called LdM for a fix.
Open to fresh design, I drew and presented 5 concepts, all of which I would’ve loved to try. Then we looked at 7 different arrangements of hardwoods, colors and grains. Nothing was left to chance. Even the side panels of the island, if the lengths of the rows look random, know that they are not. Prof created a calculus to figure it out.
Rows of hardwood: Peruvian walnut (rows 1 & 6), American walnut (2 & 5), Iroko (3rd from bottom), Jatoba (4).
